Congratulations to Xander, a 2013 Pet Idol Finalist. Xander was unable to attend the MetroBarks festival but was more than happy to accept his gift basket a few weeks later! His family was with him to celebrate his accomplishment.
Here are some photos from the MetroBarks Festival!
Our Top Ten finalists and our winner Katie with her owner Bob Reinbolt and Dave Boehm from Yark Subaru.
I would like to thank everyone who entered and voted in the 2013 Pet Idol Contest!
This year's contest was a HUGE success - our readers enjoyed it, and the participants really got caught up in the process. And in that process, we raised well over $15,000 for Newspaper in Education and Planned Pethood Inc.!
Congratulations to Bob Reinbolt and his beautiful German Shepherd, Katie, on being chosen as this year's winner!
We had a great looking Top Ten and it was so much fun meeting them and their owners at the MetroBarks Festival! From the tiny 2 lb. Raj, who is such a big help to his owner Pat, to Eliza, the beautiful Old English Sheep Dog, and everyone in between - you were a delight! Thanks for being such good sports!
My wish is for all pets to have such loving owners as our lucky contestants have!
I hope to see you next year!

The 2013 Pet Idol Contest committee is excited to announce that more than 8,000 votes were collected in the third and final round of Pet Idol this year, which brings the total votes cast for the entire contest to more than 30,000! Our contestants had many amazing family, friends, and supporters and you should know that the competition was fierce between the finalists until the very end!
We have much to celebrate Saturday and we are looking forward to meeting everybody as we announce the 2013 Pet Idol winner. Moreover, we are so pleased to share that your efforts helped raise more than $15,800 for Planned Pethood and Newspaper in Education!
The committee is grateful to you. Without you and your love of your pets, there would be no Pet Idol Contest to raise funds for Planned Pethood and NIE. Furthermore, with your help, we have been able to take the contest to a whole new level, and we are excited to keep moving forward. Please check back as we continue to unveil our plans for next year's competition!
